#1 Chiropractic adjustments hurt-I hear this one a lot but only from people that ironically have never been to a chiropractor. When a person asks the question, “When was the last time you were adjusted?” if they answer “Never” then I know they’re forming an opinion based on what others have said, and that usually means from a person who also has never been adjusted. A chiropractic adjustment may produce a little soreness but that’s normal, especially in the acute phase but in the vast majority of the cases it feels fantastic because the adjustment removes nerve pressure, addresses the cause of the symptoms and improves the range of motion in the joint.

#2 Should I go to a chiropractor even if I don’t have pain?-The quick answer is absolutely yes! I tell people that if just like it’s important to have their teeth regularly checked by the dentist your spine should get checked by a chiropractor on a regular basis. Because only 10% of the nerves in the body are pain sensitive a person could conceivably have cancer without pain, scoliosis without pain and even major cardiovascular issues without any pain or symptoms. For the same reason a person brushes their teeth even without symptoms the same is true for your spine. The skull houses and protects your brain and your spinal column protects your spinal column and both make up your most important asset, your central nervous system.
